The Cuaba Bariay Book 2012 is a rare and luxurious tribute to Cuba’s storied cigar-making tradition, released by Habanos S.A. as part of its Habanos Collection series. Presented in an exquisite book-shaped humidor, this limited edition contains 20 stunning double figurado cigars—a hallmark of the Cuaba brand, known for reviving this elegant, pre-Revolutionary vitola style.
Named after Bariay, the site where Christopher Columbus is said to have first landed in Cuba, this edition pays homage to history through craftsmanship and presentation. Each Cuaba Bariay cigar is a large, meticulously crafted double figurado, measuring 170 mm (6.7 inches) in length with a 55 ring gauge, offering a commanding and complex smoking experience. These cigars were expertly hand-rolled at the Briones Montoto Factory in Havana using tobaccos exclusively from the Vuelta Abajo region.
The flavor profile is deep and layered, with rich notes of earth, toasted wood, leather, and baking spices, gradually unfolding into hints of cocoa, dried fruit, and pepper. Its full-bodied strength is balanced by a smooth, cool draw and flawless construction, creating a luxurious and contemplative smoking session.
Limited to a very small production run, the Cuaba Bariay Book 2012 is a coveted collector’s item. The presentation box mimics the form of an antique leather-bound book, making it an exceptional centerpiece for any humidor or cigar library.
